Sunset Yoga

Relax and refresh yourself with sand below, sky above, and the soothing sound of lake waves lapping at the shore all summer long! Join Sandy Pause Yoga for our sixth summer flowing on the sand then floating into rest in the Indiana Dunes National Park. Gentle waves of movement and breath will soothe your nervous system as you slow down and soak in the peaceful energy of sunsetting skies. Get barefoot on the beach at Sunset Yoga this summer!

This class is appropriate for beginner and experienced yoga students alike, no prior yoga experience is necessary. If you have any specific needs or questions, please email sandypauseyoga@gmail.com so we can ensure an enjoyable experience for you!

Location Info: Sunset Yoga class takes place on the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk Beach with easy access to the National Park’s large public parking lot. All visitors to the National Park need to purchase entry to the Park (see Fees & Passes - Indiana Dunes National Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov) for details and to pay your entrance fee or better yet, to secure your annual pass!). Look for the “Sandy Pause Yoga'“ sign on the beach, we set up near the beach access point and are easy to find. Try to arrive 5-10 minutes before class starts to make your way to and get set up on the sand.

After class, linger with new and old friends at our weekly potluck— a perfect pause after our yoga poses to enjoy community and connection with fellow yogis. Feel free to bring something to share or just show up, there are always more than enough snacks to go around!

Class Registration: Registration is requested by 5:30 p.m. the day of class or just show up on the sand that night. Please follow Sandy Pause Yoga on Facebook and/or Instagram to be informed of any last minute changes due to weather. To register for class, please send payment via Venmo (@sandypauseyoga and the QR code is below) or via Zelle (to Lorraine Fitzgerald, email lorrainegfitz@gmail.com, please note the “g” in the middle of the email address). Park only in public designated parking spots and help protect the fragile dune ecosystem along the roadside. Look for the “Sandy Pause Yoga'“ sign on the beach, I set up near the beach access point and look forward to practicing with you!

Summer Solstice Stretch at the Dunes Learning Center

Join us on Sunday, June 21 to celebrate both the Summer Solstice and the International Day of Yoga, when we will nurture community and a deeper connection with nature. Our yoga practice will take place indoors and afterwards we'll head outside for conversation and connection under the first sunset of the summer. Tickets to this event include a 45-minute yoga practice before a reception with appetizers from Lemon Tree restaurant, a Valpo Velvet ice cream sundae bar, and beer, wine and soft drinks.  This event is sponsored by a SPY yogini and all registration fees are directly supporting the Dunes Learning Center. 

The Summer Solstice Stretch is from 6-9 p.m. and you'll want to bring a yoga mat to use that night. 

All students will need to sign an Acknowledgement of Risk form to participate in class.

Join Dig the Dunes and Sandy Pause Yoga for a fun morning of vinyasa, live music and vino in the vineyard at Four Corners Winery.

Come wine-d down at Four Corners Winery with vinyasa then vino! Our all levels vinyasa flow yoga class will have you feeling fine! After class, enjoy a glass of wine and live music in the vineyard. Wine a little, laugh a lot at Four Corners Winery on June 27!

Please bring a yoga mat to use for our all levels, outdoors class. All students will need to sign an Acknowledgement of Risk form to participate in class.

All Levels Vinyasa Flow

In this all levels vinyasa flow class, we will move mindfully through a sequence of asanas (poses) to cultivate balance between flexibility and strength, movement and stillness, and effort and ease.  These classes are designed to bring us back to the sensations in our body and the movement of our breath to feel and find our way to greater freedom on and off our mats. A blend of meditation, pranayama (breathwork), and soothing soundscapes as well as a luxurious savasana (resting pose) will be offered each week. By practicing together and sharing time on our mats and with our breath, we join a global community (sangha) of yogis.

Location Information: Class will take place at Troybuilt Fitness at 3440 W. Dunes Highway, Town of Pines, Indiana (near the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 520). You can check out Troy Ford’s private and group personal training at https://www.facebook.com/troybuiltfitness.

Registration: Advance registration is requested by 9:00 a.m. each Saturday. If you have purchased a package of yoga classes, simply email sandypauseyoga@gmail.com to register with your name. Join Sandy Pause Yoga for our sixth summer flowing on the sand then floating into rest in the Indiana Dunes National Park. Gentle waves of movement and breath will soothe your nervous system as you slow down and soak in the peaceful energy of sunsetting skies. Get barefoot on the beach at Sunset Yoga this summer!

This class is appropriate for beginner and experienced yoga students alike, no prior yoga experience is necessary. If you have any specific needs or questions, please email sandypauseyoga@gmail.com so we can ensure an enjoyable experience for you!

Location Info: Sunset Yoga class takes place on the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk Beach with easy access to the National Park’s large public parking lot. In this all levels vinyasa flow class, we will move mindfully through a sequence of asanas (poses) to cultivate balance between flexibility and strength, movement and stillness, and effort and ease.  These classes are designed to bring us back to the sensations in our body and the movement of our breath to feel and find our way to greater freedom on and off our mats. A blend of meditation, pranayama (breathwork), and soothing soundscapes as well as a luxurious savasana (resting pose) will be offered each week. By practicing together and sharing time on our mats and with our breath, we join a global community (sangha) of yogis.

Directions to the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk Beach: from U.S. Highway 20: Follow SR249 north and take the bridge over U.S. 12 towards the U.S. Steel and Precoat Metals businesses adjacent to the lakefront near Portage, IN. Turn left at the stop sign and cross over Burns Waterway. Once over the waterway, turn immediately right and head north, towards the lake, passing the entrance sign for Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk. Relax and refresh yourself with sand below, sky above, and the soothing sound of lake waves lapping at the shore all summer long! Join Sandy Pause Yoga for our sixth summer flowing on the sand then floating into rest in the Indiana Dunes National Park. Gentle waves of movement and breath will soothe your nervous system as you slow down and soak in the peaceful energy of sunsetting skies. Get barefoot on the beach at Sunset Yoga this summer!

This class is appropriate for beginner and experienced yoga students alike, no prior yoga experience is necessary. If you have any specific needs or questions, please email sandypauseyoga@gmail.com so we can ensure an enjoyable experience for you!

Location Info: Sunset Yoga class takes place on the Portage Lakefront and Riverwalk Beach with easy access to the National Park’s large public parking lot. All visitors to the National Park need to purchase entry to the Park (see Fees & Passes - Indiana Dunes National Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov) for details and to pay your entrance fee or better yet, to secure your annual pass!). Look for the “Sandy Pause Yoga'“ sign on the beach, we set up near the beach access point and are easy to find. Try to arrive 5-10 minutes before class starts to make your way to and get set up on the sand.

After class, linger with new and old friends at our weekly potluck— a perfect pause after our yoga poses to enjoy community and connection with fellow yogis. Feel free to bring something to share or just show up, there are always more than enough snacks to go around!

Class Registration: Registration is requested by 5:30 p.m. the day of class or just show up on the sand that night. Yoga in Ogden Dunes

In this all levels vinyasa flow class, we will move mindfully through a sequence of asanas (poses) to cultivate balance between flexibility and strength, movement and stillness, and rejuvenation and relaxation.  These classes are designed to bring us back to the sensations in our body and the movement of our breath to feel and find our way to greater freedom on and off our mats. A blend of meditation, pranayama (breathwork), and soothing soundscapes as well as a luxurious savasana (resting pose) will be offered each week. This class is appropriate for new and seasoned yoga students alike, and pose variations and props are offered in every class to support you and your yoga practice.

Location Information: Class will take place in Ogden Dunes in the Community Room, located adjacent to the fire station just as you enter Ogden Dunes from Highway 12. The address is 111 Hillcrest Road, Ogden Dunes, IN 46368.

Class Registration: Residents of Ogden Dunes may make a donation at class to participate (no advance registration is required) and students who live outside of Ogden Dunes can register via venmo or by clicking one of the links below to pay for class. If you have purchased a package of yoga classes, simply email sandypauseyoga@gmail.com to register with your name. All students will be asked to sign a waiver in order to participate in class.

Please bring a yoga or exercise mat with you to class, plus a sweater or sweatshirt to be cozy during our savasana (resting pose) at the end of class.

Cost/Payment: Individual classes are $20 or $18 for Dunies members, and payment can be sent via Venmo to @SandyPauseYoga or register via PayPal at the links below. Acknowledgment of Risk form: All students are required to sign the Acknowledgment of Risk form in order to participate in class.
